Joseph M. Azam

Attorney, Global Anti-corruption & Governance Advisor

Joseph is a lawyer, policy advisor and writer. His practice is focused on global anti-corruption, financial crimes, and internal and government investigations. He currently serves as Senior Vice President & Global Chief Compliance & Ethics Officer at a leading software company and has held similar roles in the media and financial services industries. He is also currently working with the Institute for State Effectiveness as a Strategic Infrastructure Advisor focused on corruption and risk management issues in Afghanistan.

Joseph is a graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he serves on the Board of Governors. He holds an M.A. from the Hagop Kevorkian Center for Near Eastern Studies New York University, and a B.A. in International Politics and Philosophy from New York University. His graduate work at NYU focused heavily on Afghanistan. He has been a contributor for MTVNews, Ethisphere Magazine, the San Francisco Chronicle, the LA Times, and Lucky Peach Magazine. He is a member of the bar in California, New York, and the District of Columbia.
